A book review: Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis
This is fiction! One reminder you should put to mind. There is no Slubgob, Screwtape, Wormwood or Academy of tempters. But while the characters are fictional, theplots of the enemy revealed here are real.
The book is humorous and at the same time exciting. But one has to guard one’s faith because “Screwtape letters” came from the devil Screwtape. A ‘head’ in the kingdom of the underworld set to give advice to Wormwood, a novice tempter. He calls God ‘our Enemy’, Satan ‘Our father below’ and Jesus ‘that unfair advantage of the enemy.’
Spiritual Warfare is real and the enemy is set out to steal, kill and destroy and lie (as he is the father of lies) and accuses God’s people. The devil attacks us individually and as a community. They are united in their purpose to destroy God’s people.
Some scenarios here are very real that if you carefully check your innocent actions you’ll find them a hidden sin and some actions we thought are sin are not sin at all
After reading the book I appreciated God’s Word more. The Bible should be the final authority on how we view the enemy and God’s tool in revealing our sins. The Bible should also be the ONLY, SUPREME AUTHORITY WITH OUR INFORMATION ABOUT DEMONS. We should hold unto it and make it as our lamp in our paths and light to our feet because the enemy is indeed around us, like a prowling lion ready to devour.
Good post here and I agree with you about GOD WORD, to many people want to mislead. I never heard of the book to now. God Bless 🙂
