Awe and Woe

Is it being different? Is it being weird? Is it being religious?

It is having a different nature…it is not so much as who you are, Jesus was human as well but he is different, set apart. The disciples were also holy, so are David, Moses, Abraham, Peter, Paul and those people who believed and followed God. How are they Holy? They have a different nature. The Holy Spirit is within them, each time they set themselves apart they live the nature that was already renewed within them by the Spirit, the more they become “like God” in nature (not deity) more like Jesus.

As they are set apart, they grow “nearer” to God, yet this “nearness” is what makes them see the Divine transcendence of God. The ever eternal gap of the Creator to its creation and that is the “woe”. Yet this transcendent God was also personal, so involved and concerned that he humbled Himself and took on the form of a servant, a human like us; truly gracious, merciful; in fact so immanent that God was called Immanuel “God with us”, and that is Jesus. The reason why we can approach the transcendent, Holy God is through the redemptive, finished work of Jesus at the cross. And that is enough for “awe”.

“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” – Hebrews 12:14 NIV

  1. This post was wonderful. You really have a grasp on the level of relationship that God desires to have with us, His creation. This beautifully described the loving nature we take into us when we align with Him and allow His Spirit to dwell in us. I like that you stated that we must set oursleves apart to receive that nature. That’s true, not only does God set us apart as His children but we also have to choose to set ourselves apart to be able to receive His peace and divine inspiration. Sorry for the longwinded comment, this was just a really great post my friend. It stirred me at the core. May our Father continue to pour into you. -WATW
