How the FX driver boosted my faith
I was on my way home and I rode the rear part of the FX. I either usually read, sleep, call or text when I am commuting home but for some reason tonight I just felt a little bit lonely and I started praying and thinking of lots of stuff going on in my life. Suddenly there was this sound, a coo-ing and a crackle of laughter and I turned and saw the FX driver’s 6 month old son poking his dad as he drives. (I don’t know if the law allows infants in the front, but anyway) The Mom who was in the passenger seat was also playing with their son and soon the FX’s silence was broken by this adorable infant. He was gazing at every passenger and laughing!!!
There was one time during the ride home where the boy tried pulling the wheel from his dad and it was at this moment that the dad said:
“Nagda-drive si daddy.” (Daddy’s driving).
Then it hit me. A surge of confidence filled me as I know that God used that experience to talk to me: “Dave, Daddy is driving.”
What are we facing right now? Daddy is driving.
Do we sometimes pick the wheel from God desperately trying things our way? Daddy is driving.
Do we face something scary, big or impossible now? Daddy is driving.
The complex Sovereignty of God and Lordship can be encapsulated in that sentence: Daddy is driving. God is driving. There is only one wheel, one driver’s seat and sometimes we want that seat to be ours. Daddy is driving.
The LORD is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
