Power Surge

batteryIf you need to use your remote control for T.V., you probably would need a set of double A or triple A batteries, if you need to run a car, you need a car battery, if you need to supply power for a whole mall you would need a bigger, more heavy duty electric generator. The same is true for us. The task that God assigned us is so significant than we need a more powerful energy source. And what is more powerful than the divine power that comes from God Almighty himself.

Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

The Holy Spirit’s role in the early church is so evident that He is not seen as an indefinite force but a real person that is with them. The Holy Spirit is the reason why the church was able to influence such a godless society and turn the world around. The same Holy Spirit that was at work in the church is the same Holy Spirit that is at work in our lives. The Holy Spirit is God himself, working in and through or lives today.

The Holy Spirit is the reason why our desires and hearts are changed. The Holy Spirit also helps us know Jesus more, make the bible alive, He helps us to pray, gives joy and hope in the midst of trials and challenges, enables us to say ‘no’ to temptations, empowers us to say ‘yes’ to a godly life, energizes us for the work of the ministry, stands with us as we share the gospel, in short: we cannot live a vibrant Christian life with out the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

“The Christian’s life in all its aspects—intellectual and ethical, devotional and relational, upsurging in worship and outgoing in witness—is supernatural; only the Spirit can initiate and sustain it. So apart from him, not only will there be no lively believers and no lively congregations, there will be no believers and no congregations at all.” – J. I. Packer

“Without the Spirit we can neither love God nor keep His commandments.” – Augustine
