taking hold of the One who has taken hold
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” – Philippians 3:12 (NIV, emphasis mine)
In here Paul was saying to the Philippians that he is just like all of us. He is not perfect and is still in the process of running the race for which God has called Him to. A man under construction.
When I was reading it, I was just inspired. WE move to take hold of things that Jesus HAS ALREADY taken hold. He finished it. Amazing!
When Christ took hold of my life, I aim to take hold of His life (Christ-likeness); when he took hold of my heart, I’m aiming for His heart.
He took hold of my trials which are in His control, I need to take hold of sufferings, trials and challenges in store for me.
He took hold of my destiny, I’m reaching out that destiny He has planned for me.
He took hold of victory, I’m pressing on to take hold of victory in Him as well.
He demolished strongholds, I’m demolishing strongholds by His name.
I’m going to win the prize which He has already won for me.
He took hold of my hand, I’m taking hold of His. He made sure of my eternity, I’m spending it with Him.
“He is with me in this life” becomes “I’m with Him on this side of life and eternity beyond!”
I love you Jesus!
I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. – Philippians 3:12(NLT)
I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. – Philippians 3:12 (Message)
