the nails

How slowly but surely our sins crept at Jesus’ back as he carried the cross to Calvary. I can only imagine him embracing me as he approached the crucifixion site. It seems odd to me that the for years he has been working as a carpenter, dealing with wood, nails and hammers, now the very living he used to have will be his death bed.

I can only imagine how many times he may have actually fall because of the weight of the cross. The sins of the past, present and the future were now catching up on him, but he was man enough to face it.  His limited body falls incomparably to his majestic, all-powerful, nature, yet he picked himself up. He has to do this. He wants to do this.

The cross has been laid and Jesus laid over it. How I suddenly found myself becoming the cross, the sign of my sins and Jesus laid over me, hands spread as if protecting me from the upcoming wrath. Then the nails came in. The only thing that connected the cross to his body. The tool used to pin him on the cross.

As the nails of the cross went through his righteous body through the sinful cross which has now become my body, the exchange was on! I was crucified with Him.

I can’t understand why, but suddenly the cross were raised high and above and lo people started to gather around. The only connection between heaven and earth, passing by his body. He looked down and I suddenly found myself at the foot of his cross.

He faced God’s wrath head on, alone. He endured as his created flesh slowly gave away.

Then it was over. It is over.

I knelt at the foot of his cross crying, how in the world can anyone do what he did? How in the world can we say that we are doing him a favor, that he owes us anything?

I don’t owe him a thing, I owe him everything!

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. – 1 Corinthians 5:21

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. – Galatians 2:20

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9

Jesus restored the glory and honor back to God

Jesus died for my sins.

God loves me.

It is uncomfortable for me not to show and tell the amount of blood he shed and the extent of love he has for us.

Jesus dismantled principalities and authorities.

Jesus declared and assumed victory and freedom.

Now the Gift of salvation is made available for those who believe!!!

The greatest love story that actually happened and I never get tired of hearing it all over again.
