The Opinionated act of Jesus 3/5

Either Jesus is false and you are right; therefore undoing the millions of people who literally died for him. It disregards the historical fact that he was born, lived, died and resurrected from the dead. It puts to dust the 2000 years of hard, bloody history of the church that is founded in him. It discredits the apostles’ selfless testimonies and puts their death to a big sham and undoing their completely devoted lives for Jesus (lives that did not get anything in return except the promised eternal life).  It brings to end the lives of people who believed in him, was changed by him, who claims to be his people (some who are no wonder more intelligent and better men than we are).

OR…..

He is true and He is the Source of truth, the Source, the Creator, God. In the right and we are in the wrong. Yes, we who cannot even perfect a single exam ALWAYS. Yes, we who screwed up with our directions or messed up with our computer programs. Yes, most probably we may be in the wrong. And if he is God and if we wronged him, or rejected his truth, then we sinned.

“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.  They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.” –Romans 1:18-25 NIV, emphasis mine.

And if at last we realized we sinned against Him, then we got one truth right: that we are in the false.

Then our falsely made world starts crashing down on us. We may be confused (what to do next?) but at least we are no longer deluded (I am right and in the truth). With our world gone we have two options left. Either we continue to reject the truth or we know and walk in the truth.

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32 (NIV)

“I am the way and the truth…” – John 14:6 (NIV)

Jesus suggests that we KNOW HIM, after all he claims not only to know the way but IS the way. Now when Christians talk about a “relationship with him”, it now makes sense. You know someone more when you first accept that person, believe (trust) in that person, meet with that person, communicate with that person and really get to know that person and intimately if ever. Wow, a relationship with the truth, being friends with God.

Yet somehow, when we say Christianity it brings about the cross. When you read the New Testament it talks about the cross.

The cross kills. Convicts those who departed from the truth. What does this mean? Why does Christianity have to have the cross?
