SUCCESS!!

How do you define that you are successful? How will you know if what you are doing is already achieving for you what you dream or what your vision in life is?

I believe each and everyone of us should have our very own definition of success. I believe people lose their purpose in life if they don’t have vision and even worse, if they don’t know that they already reached their destination/vision.

(Success is different from vision but they are highly interconnected, in this blog I’ll be focusing on success.)

Here are some definitions of success or how some other people view success:

“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, learning from failure.” – Colin Powell

“There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs.” – Anonymous

“The whole world steps aside for the man who knows where he is going.” – Anonymous

“There’s no substitute for hard work.” – Thomas Edison

“To climb steep hills requires slow pace at first.” – William Shakespeare

“Today’s preparation determines tomorrow’s achievement.” – Albert Einstien

“Vacillating people seldom succeed. Successful men and women are very careful in reaching their decisions, and very persistent and determined in action thereafter.” – L.G. Elliot

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great. You don’t pay the price for success. You enjoy the price for success.” – Zig Ziglar

“You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” –  Eleanor Roosevelt

“You only have to do a very few things right in your life so long as you don’t do too many things wrong.” – Warren Buffet

“It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to succeed.” – Napoleon Hill

“Success without a successor is a failure.” – Richard Roberts

“…most important single ingredient to the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people…” – Teddy Roosevelt

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” – Joshua 1:8 (NIV, emphasis mine)

‘Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5,6 (NIV, emphasis mine)

I have to admit that John Maxwell’s definition of success really made an impact to me. For him success is three-fold:

“Knowing God and His desires for me. Growing to my maximum potential. Sowing seeds that benefits others.”

I can say that I am successful in life if:

“I honor God by fulfilling His will for me. (Obeying God)

Maximizing my God-given potential. (Stewardship)

Help others achieve their God-given potential. (Empower)

Bless others with the blessings I’ve received. (Generosity)

Leave a legacy for others to follow. (Multi-Generational)

*Let’s give a hand for our parents and the parents out there for they have already left a legacy through their children.*

So how about starting to create your own definition?

In all honestly, the bible is the best source for determining your definition of success. It even tells you how to achieve it!

Without a vision or definition of success your life is merely surviving. Make a stand.

Are you aiming for survival, success or significance?

Make big visions. Aim great success. Dare to make a difference.

What’s your definition of success?
